The NDC Executive Board and the Executive Director agreed that the NDC 2017 goal is to occupy a new safe space and have it open to the community within the 2017 calendar year. The goal was set with the understanding that any leased or purchased space would be financially sustainable. The Nooga Diversity Center is a 501(c)3, and we greatly rely on private donations and fundraising efforts. In the past three years, NDC has successfully conducted many fundraising events that were financially beneficial and demonstrated NDC’s ability to generate reoccurring revenue. NDC currently is in a positive financial position to move forward with the 2017 NDC Dream Safe Space.

 

With NDC’s 2017 goal in reachable sight, we will be able to grow and offer our community more. Most importantly, we can provide an inclusive, safe, and affirming space for LGBTQ and allies. In addition, we can bring our community more LGBTQ awareness and educational programs. More specifically, we can offer a safe location for various LGBTQ support groups, and a multitude of positive family/youth activities that promote diversity, inclusion, acceptance, and kinship.

 

It is important to note, our funds have been obtained from the community with our promise to bring into fruition our areas first LGBTQ safe center. We are proud to meet your request. With that, comes more reoccurring operational cost, and we will continue to look to our community for sustainability so we can thrive and grow.
